Crystal Ann Tymich disappeared from her home

On June 30th, 1994, six-year-old Crystal Ann Tymich disappeared from her home in the Hyde Park area of South Central Los Angeles.

That afternoon, Crystal was outside picking peaches from a neighbor’s tree while her three brothers went inside the house. When they returned a short time later to call her in, she was gone. Crystal has never been seen since.

At the time, she was wearing a pink t-shirt, floral-printed shorts, and white sneakers featuring the cartoon character The Little Mermaid. Crystal had blonde to light brown hair and hazel eyes. Her name is sometimes spelled “Chrystal,” but all efforts to locate her have been focused on the girl last seen in Hyde Park.

Despite extensive searches and investigations, there was very little evidence to follow. In 2005, authorities searched the crawl space of a house across the street from Crystal’s home. Bones were found—but they belonged to animals, not Crystal. No other evidence was uncovered, and no one in the neighborhood reported seeing anything suspicious the day she disappeared.

Investigators believe she may have been abducted by a non-family member, but the case remains largely a mystery. Her family continues to live in the same home, holding onto hope that one day they will have answers.

Crystal would now be 38 years old. Over two decades later, her case remains unsolved, and authorities still consider her missing under endangered circumstances.

Her story is a haunting reminder of how quickly a child can vanish—and how some questions may remain unanswered for years.

If you have any information about what happened to Crystal Tymich, do you think you could help bring closure to her family?
